This week we celebrate Independence Day in the US! It’s one
of the highlights of the summer with parades, picnics, fireworks displays and
lots of fun with family and friends!
4th of July celebrations are the perfect time for
a little friendly competition. Here are just a few ideas to keep everyone
active and having fun at your barbeque or at the beach!
Water Balloon Toss
It’s summertime and it’s hot so there is no better time for
a water balloon toss. Fill small balloons with water and tie them off. Everyone
grab a partner and form two lines facing each other about 3 feet apart (closer
for the little ones) and toss. Everyone who catches the balloon without
breaking moves back 2 feet after each turn. Now the object is to be the last
team standing with an unbroken water balloon, but the fun is when you throw it
wild or too high and it breaks as your partner tries to catch it! Have a blast!
Wheelbarrow Race
Grab a partner and get ready for the wheelbarrow race! One
partner holds their partners legs and the other partner walks their hands
forward. Watch the fun and laughter ensue! First pair to cross the finish line
wins!
Sack Races
Sack races are fun for kids of all ages. Just find yourself
some racing sacks (sources for these are all over the web), line up the
competitors and place your finish line. Count down and yell “Go!” It’s great
fun and exercise watching kids and adults alike trying to hop their way down
the course!
These are just a few of the ideas for your 4th of
July celebration. Be happy, be healthy and have a safe and awesome 4th
of July!!!!!
